A strong earthquake rattled southwestern China's Yunnan Province early Sunday, and the country's state-run Xinhua news agency reported the temblor collapsed homes and caused injuries.Two people died, news services reported, quoting Xinhua. The Reuters news service, also citing Xinhua, said 70 people were injured.
The China Earthquake Administration put the quake at magnitude 6.4, according to Xinhua. The U.S. Geological Survey said it was magnitude 6.2.
The quake struck the province at 5:34 a.m. Sunday (5:34 p.m. Saturday ET), the USGS said.
