A campus of Concordia University in Montreal was locked down Tuesday morning over what turned out to be a false report about an armed man on campus.
Around 9:30 ET this morning, a janitor at the Loyola Campus of Concordia, in the city's west end, became worried after seeing a man dressed in camouflage carrying a long, black case or bag.
The employee called 911 to report an armed man on campus. About 50 police cars and the riot squad responded.
The campus was locked down, with students escorted off while police refused to let anyone else in. University spokeswoman Chris Mota says there was an orderly and calm evacuation, with students arriving for classes being told to return home.
