Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe vowed to rewrite the country's post-World War II pacifist constitution while he is in office.
"This is a tough and historic job, but I want to revise the constitution during my term," Abe told a news conference marking the end of his first parliament session since taking office.
"First of all, I want to pass a National Referendum Bill and procedures for the revision during next year's parliament session," said Abe, a long-time advocate of revising the constitution.
