An American man said Friday he wants to challenge a U.S. request to extradite him to the United States for allegedly raping his daughter and videotaping the attack, a Hong Kong legal official said.Kenneth John Freeman, a fugitive on America's most-wanted lists, showed no emotion as he appeared for his first hearing in a Hong Kong courthouse wearing handcuffs, a blue polo shirt and dark green pants.
After a 13-month global manhunt, Freeman was arrested Tuesday while trying to enter Hong Kong on a bus at the busy Lok Ma Chau border crossing with mainland China. He resisted arrest and scuffled with four police, leaving scratches and bruises on himself and the officers, said Tobi Lothian, a police detective senior inspector.
The muscular Freeman, 44, a bodybuilder and computer expert, said Friday that he wanted to contest the U.S. extradition request, said Wayne Walsh, deputy principal counsul for the Hong Kong government's international law division.
