Two people were killed by trains today in the Bay Area, officials said.Caltrain officials said a person was struck and killed around 11:40 a.m. by a northbound train near Ninth Avenue in San Mateo.
The engineer reported seeing someone trying to cross the tracks but could not stop the train in time, Caltrain spokesman Jonah Weinberg said. No information was immediately available about the victim.
Service was halted until about 12:15 p.m.
