A low-pressure system lingering over the South early Tuesday is expected to bring more heavy rain and thunderstorms from eastern Texas to the Georgia coast and into Florida.While the storms caused flooding in parts of the South and the Plains, rain is welcome in parched Florida.
Skies are forecast to clear in the Northeast, and temperatures are expected to begin climbing, though highs were to remain below normal for early July.
Temperatures are expected to simmer in the West as high pressure develops over the region. California is expected to hit triple digits, and temperatures in the upper 90s are forecast across Washington and Oregon. The hottest areas in the Southwest could surpass 120 degrees.
