San Franciscans showed support for their parks and police Tuesday night, as a measure to spend $185 million on the city's green spaces was on its way to passing and a proposal to give more money to police who stay on the job instead of retiring won approval from voters.Voters rejected another local measure - a policy statement with no force of law directing city leaders to buy Alcatraz from the federal government and convert it into a global peace center.

Proposition B, which would alter the city charter to allow officers to simultaneously earn a pension and a paycheck, was passing with 65 percent of the vote in late returns. It needed approval from a simple majority of voters.
