Subtropical Storm Andrea was weakening off the northeastern Florida coast Thursday but still could produce some much-needed rain for coastal areas of Florida and Georgia, the National Hurricane Center said."Andrea is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of one-half to one inch along coastal areas of the southeastern U.S.," an advisory said.
As of 8 a.m. ET, Andrea's center was about 100 miles (160 kilometers) east of Jacksonville, Florida. (Watch what's behind the recent extreme weather )
It had maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kph) with higher gusts, forecasters said.
