A wind-whipped grass fire burned several acres near the top of San Bruno Mountain on Tuesday, threatening one home before firefighters extinguished the blaze.Dozens of firefighters battled the three-alarm, 7-acre fire to keep it from spreading, and managed to save a house on Harold Road on the east side of the mountain.

Stratton Reiter, who lives on San Bruno Avenue near the fire, said he leaped on his bicycle when he smelled heavy smoke and pedaled to the bottom of the mountain to assess the peril.
