Widespread showers and thunderstorms were expected to continue Wednesday throughout the East Coast as well as the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley.Skies in the Northeast were to clear late in the day as the cold front bringing the rain moves into the Atlantic. Thunderstorms were expected to persist in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms were also forecast for the Great Lakes region as a low pressure system moves south from Canada.
Another dry and sunny day was forecast for the West Coast. Afternoon temperatures for the Desert Southwest were expected to again soar into the triple digits.
