Seven South Carolina college students died in a weekend beach house fire in North Carolina, officials say. Authorities have not released the the victims' names, but The Associated Press has confirmed several identities through relatives and close friends: Lauren MahonUniversity of South Carolina freshman Lauren Mahon was always on the go, had a shopping obsession and talked at about "90 miles per hour," her best friend and roommate said Monday.
"She'd always say, 'If you listen closely, I make perfect sense. Sometimes I just have a hard time expressing my thoughts,'" said Amanda Palacio, who went to high school with Mahon in Simpsonville. "She was a great girl. She still is."
Palacio described the Delta Delta Delta sorority member as fun-loving and always ready with a joke -- someone who "lived life to the fullest."
