Authorities warn that two lanes of northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Redwood City will be closed through the day and that all northbound traffic will be blocked tonight to let crews repair damage caused by Tuesday's gasoline spill.Caltrans will shut down all northbound lanes at 9 p.m. so crews can repave the two right lanes, where gasoline from the tanker-truck spill destroyed the asphalt, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The gas seeped into a storm drain at the center divide and underneath the southbound lanes of the freeway, raising fears that the fuel could ignite and prompting authorities to close that side of the highway around 4 p.m.
