The grandson of a 77-year-old man found shot and killed in his Sonoma Valley home has been arrested on suspicion of murder, authorities said today.Sean Patrick Mooney, 20, of Chico is being held at the Sonoma County Jail in connection with Tuesday night's slaying of his grandfather, Robert Deming, who was killed a day before his birthday, sheriff's Lt. Rob Giordano said.
The motive for the slaying appears to be related to money, but the specifics are still under investigation, Giordano said.
Mooney called 911 at 9:21 p.m. Tuesday to report that his grandfather had been shot, authorities said. Sheriff's deputies who responded to Deming's home at 492 Bonneau Road in the Schellville area found his body. He had been shot in the back of the head with a shotgun, authorities said.
