An explosion and massive fire in an industrial complex near downtown Kansas City, Missouri, forced some evacuations and closed nearby roads, local media reports said.
There were several explosions in what appeared to be a chemical plant, the Kansas City Star newspaper reported. Witnesses said the ensuing fire produced towering flames and a plume of black smoke visible across the region.
There were no reports of injuries.
