Authorities searching for a missing college student found a body Monday morning, several miles from where Kelly Nolan vanished after a night of drinking more than two weeks ago. Police spokesman Joel DeSpain told WISC-TV that the body was found about 9 a.m. while police searched a 3-square-mile area just off a major highway north of Oregon, Wisconsin.DeSpain would not say if the body had been identified or what led searchers to that area, but he said police are now calling the search a homicide investigation. A late morning news conference was set to discuss the case.
Nolan, a 22-year-old student at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, was living in Madison for the summer. She was last seen early on the morning of June 23 after a night out with friends at Madison bars.
A cafe owner said Saturday that an employee reported seeing Nolan early on June 23 and had walked Nolan toward her home until they ran into another man who said he knew Nolan, according to Tom Paras, the owner of Amy's Cafe.
