The California Highway Patrol is investigating the shooting earlier today of a motorist who was driving in San Francisco on Highway 101.CHP spokesman Shawn Chase said the driver of a BMW was southbound near the Cesar Chavez offramp around 10:30 a.m. when the driver of a green minivan pulled alongside, rolled down his passenger window and opened fire.
The bullet struck the BMW driver in the hip and he was able to drive himself to San Francisco General Hospital, Chase said. The vicim was not identified.
"We asked if there was any kind of road rage or traffic incident and he said no - he had never seen the minivan or the driver before," Chase said.
