The Alameda County sheriff's office released a picture today of a man who they say may help them solve the 1991 slaying of an Oakland woman.Israel Zelaya, 43, is not a suspect in the beating death of 24-year-old Vicenta Sanchez-Orellana but may have information that could help investigators, said sheriff's Sgt. Scott Dudek.
Zelaya may have been "more than a friend" to the married Sanchez-Orellana, which might have had something to do with why she was killed, Dudek said.
The picture shows Zelaya in 1992, when he lived on Lincoln Avenue in Oakland, Dudek said. His whereabouts now are unknown, authorities said.
