THE last five long-finned pilot whales from a pod of 27 stranded on a Tasmanian beach have been moved to calmer waters where it is hoped they can be saved.
Department of Primary Industries and Water spokesman Warwick Brennan today said the five whales had been moved in an attempt to stabilise them.
The whales beached themselves yesterday at Ocean Beach, near Strahan, on Tasmania's west coast.
