Santa Monica -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was released today from a hospital in Santa Monica where he underwent surgery for a broken leg he suffered a week ago in a skiing accident during a family Christmas vacation in Sun Valley, Idaho, according to the Governor's Office.
Schwarzenegger, 59, broke his right femur, or thighbone, while skiing last Saturday during a vacation with wife Maria Shriver and their four children.
Dr. Kevin Ehrhart, an orthopedic surgeon in Santa Monica who performed hip surgery on former President Reagan in January 2001, set his leg on Tuesday.
The governor was released from the hospital around 5 p.m. and is recuperating at his Brentwood home, said governor's aide Julie Soderlund.
