A six-year-old girl was grazed by a stray bullet as she stood on the playground at Dover Elementary School in San Pablo Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.The victim, a first grader at the school, suffered only a superficial wound to her abdomen, police said, and was treated and released from Children's Hospital in Oakland.
Police believe the bullet was fired from a distance and was not aimed at the school ground. The girl was hit around 12:25 p.m., and as a precaution, authorities locked the school down for about an hour following the shooting.
Officers canvassed the surrounding neighborhood and were unable to locate and evidence or witnesses, according to police. Anyone with information may call San Pablo police at (510) 215-3150.
