Tony Blair is heading to the Middle East for the first time as special envoy for the region, trying to build foundations for a Palestinian state.The former prime minister will visit Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian town of Ramallah in the West Bank.
Last week, he said he hoped momentum could be regained in the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
He will act on behalf of the Quartet of Middle East negotiators - the US, EU, United Nations and Russia.
