Apple Computer Inc. shares touched an all-time high Monday, before falling amid a broad market sell-off, as the company's line of iPod music players remained the most popular electronic gadget sold over the Internet during the key holiday weekend.
Apple's iPods claimed five of the top 10 spots on the list of most-purchased consumer electronic items sold through Amazon.com, and 10 of the top 25 spots.
Demand for iPods so outstripped that for Microsoft Corp.'s rival Zune product that even an iPod accessory was outselling Microsoft's media player.
App shares climbed as high as $93.16 on heavy volume before finishing down $2.09 at $89.54.
